Passive fire system audits
One of the most powerful methods used to limit the impact of fire on a building and its occupants is the passive fire system. The passive fire system limits the spread of fire through the use of physical barriers – fire doors, fire walls, fire rated floors and ceilings, and fire rated service ducts. These barriers stop the fire spreading from one section of the building to another, one building to the next, allowing occupants to move to safety and giving time for the fire to be extinguished.
However, in many instances these systems are left in a state of disrepair, the compartments are no longer separated from one another, leaving the system incapable of stopping the spread of fire. Regular, correct preventative maintenance is required to make sure that these systems continue to operate as originally intended.
In addition, the use of the building may change, requiring an adaptation to elements of the passive fire system.
Clearly the reliability of these systems is critical.
One Fire Group can conduct an audit of the passive fire systems within your building, ensuring that they are ready to operate at any time. The quality of the maintenance can be assessed, and if a change to the way the building is used necessitates an adaptation to these systems, One Fire Group can advise you of the most practical approach.
